3/12/12 Performance Day

Today was Performance Day. Or was meant to as absence hindered the class yet again. Will pick up next week. I started on my singing essay and on my blogger (which decided to delete all my previous blogs) so having to restart the blogs again. Had some sort of writers block on my essay. I feel more research is needed.

26/11/12 Rehearsals

Again Sapphira was not in so again lesson did not commence. Continued dusting over the lyrics and learning my solo lines and background harmony.

19/11/12 Rehearsals

Sapphira was not in today so therefore lesson did not take place. Briefly went over lyrics to keep my memory refreshed.

12/11/12 Rehearsals

This lesson we started to branch out in our particular sections and start building the basics of the harmony. It doesn't sound amazing at the moment but we are still in the early stages. I personally have two lines of solo singing and I provide part of the back-up harmony behind the chorus. In time it will come together but again this week abscences impede our progress.

5/11/12 Rehearsals

Lesson was similar to last weeks, still familiarising ourselves with the song but my group is now mapping people to different parts of the song to particular members of the group. Due to an abscence we can only start distributing to a lessened amount of members in the group, but my confidence still continues to grow. Feedback was good this lesson from Sapphira, who said to continue with this path and keep going over the song in general. The song is Glee Cast- Like A Prayer

Rehearsals 29/10/12

This rehearsal was much similar to last weeks rehearsal, in which my group continued to familarize ourselves with the song. In this lesson we did have some improved confidence in how we was singing it. We are also in the very basic and early stages of mapping put and co-ordianting who will sing each bit and who will perform the foreground and backgorund harmonies, which will be set in stone of the coming weeks.

22/10/12 singing rehearsal

This rehearsal my group spent time getting to know the lyrics and timing of the song. It was quite a calm lesson we just repeated the song multiple times, which helped greatly. I will print off lyrics and learn them on preparation for next lesson. As the performance date nears my nerves are growing but I believe going over the song to keep my knowledge of it intact will help me get past it

Performance Day 15/5/12

The performance went better than I expected it to be. When I was doing it I felt everything waas going to plan (barring some mis-steps and lyric screw-ups) During I thought I sounded really good, especially in the ensemble pieces.

Watching it back...well that was a differentz story. I still felt that the ensemble pieces were better (obviously) than the smaller all-boys piece, which I frankly though, of my personal peformance, rubbish. I sounded EXTREMELY out of tune, I went to exit the stage too early, which was embarressing as no ne else moved. Sapphira usually says that I have improved, but harking back to my solo, I sounded rubbish then so I cant really sense an improvement...maybe I am tone death.

Rehearsals 8/5/12

Again started the lesson with warm-ups (ssss, shhh, low hum, high hum, aeiou), which I led. I felt it went pretty good :). Then we broke off into our seperate groups. We edited the choreography, especially the timing (which i feel is still off). I dont really have any confidence in my singing. Im finding the lyrics to Under My Skin quite hard to grasp, mainly (from what I believe) due to the inflections in each verse and the slight differences of words.

Rehearsal 3/5/12

Again started with the usual warm-ups to help exercise our voices. Then we carried on with smaller group songs.

The smaller group im in (all boys) did rehearsals in the main singing room. I thought it was pretty crap if im honest, and the performance to the rest of the class was worse. My confidence at this point now is so low i actually dont want to do singing at all.

Rehearsal 1/5/12

Started off with the usual set of warm-ups; shush, low hum, ssss, high hum, aeiou and hallelujah warm-ups. Different warm ups help exercise different muscles e.g. Aeiou helps with diction.

We mainly worked on ensemble songs this lesson, mainly polishing them up. The only work that needs tp be done now is the smaller group songs and the choreography.

Rehearsal 12/4/12

Started off with the simple warm-ups again this lesson and continued working on the group ensemble songs. I feel there aint alot of confidence in the group during these ensemble songs, and it is dragging my confidence down aswell. Hopefully this will change in the coming weeks.

Rehearsals 10/4/12

Todays rehearsal we started with the usual warm ups and so forth before we split off into groups. My group continued on with rehearsing and choreographing "got you under my skin". The choreography seems quite fitting to the song so I feel there is no need to change it.

Lesson 1: Recap

This lesson was mainly recapping on warm-ups and our previous song. I lost my way about half way through the song but quickly regained the beat. We learnt a new song today, quite a short one though. I still aint looking forward to the performance though, hopefully my feelings will change.
