Today was the performance of the sight reading i.e. reading sheet music and singing the corresponding notes. Personally I felt that this audition was terrible. I had trouble matching the notes up with the music and I found the reading of the notes extremely hard as well. Everything came off as gibberish to me. I did finally manage to complete it but it came with great effort.
In the future to improve I should study sheet music more effectively so I can more accurately read sheet music and perform it to a much higher standard.

22/5/13 Performance Day
Today was the day of my performance. Initially I started off with Ed Helms- What Do Tigers Dream Of?. I felt this debut to the solo audition was sub par as I could tell in my voice I was shakey, even though I had performed vocal warm-ups before hand. I felt that of all the three songs I performed, this was my weakest one.
My second song was Frank Sinatra- That's Life, was a performance I fared better in. I felt my confidence growing as I performed this song and in turn heard my voice get better in the performance. This song, as I predicted, challenged me in terms of breath control and notes. This was also I believe the hardest of the three songs I had to perform, with a variety of pitches and differing levels of notes etc.
The final song I had to perform was Louis Armstrong- What A Wonderful World. This was my favourite of all the songs to perform. I also believe it was the easiest to perform, with soft notes and a small range of pitch to them. I believed this was my strongest of the trio of songs performed, so I felt good ending on a high.
Next time I think I should warm up my voice more effectively so I can start strong from the start and maintain that level of performance throughout the entire audition.

13/5/13 Final Rehearsal
This lesson is the final rehearsal before my audition next week. I focused on all the exercises in an effort to continue expanding range, pitch, tone etc. I just hope that these exercises will help me in my audition next week. I should between now and then continue and focus on these exercises to maintain my progress.
The final three songs I have chosen (Frank Sinatra-Thats Life, Ed Helms-What Do Tigers Dream Of?, Louis Armstrong-What a Wonderful World) are ones I feel comfortable with. They feel to be within my vocal range but also provide a challenge to them as well. I feel the hardest challenge out of these three will be Thats Life, as it has many long and strong notes. My favourite one to perform will be What a Wonderful World, which is a personal preference as it is one of my favourite songs.
